In October, I had the opportunity to participate in the 11th European Lean Educator Conference (ELEC 2025) “LEAN in Action: Digitalization, Sustainability, and Operational Excellence”, held in Rzeszów, Poland. I was pleased to present our paper “Operationalizing Lean Replenishment with Real-Time Sensing: An Action Research on the SDMS Prototype in Food Retail”, co-authored with João Fernandes, Francisco Cardoso, Dinis Carvalho, and Levi Guimarães, PhD.

The event, masterfully organized by Professor Katarzyna Antosz and the team at Rzeszów University of Technology, was a truly enriching experience of knowledge exchange and collaboration among academics and professionals from diverse industries — including aviation.

We also had the opportunity to visit MTU Aero Engines, where we learned about the turbine assembly process — a live demonstration of operational excellence. Beyond the academic discussions, it was fascinating to attend performances of traditional Polish dances and to visit the Łańcut Castle, a cultural gem full of history and beauty.

⭐ Congratulations as well to the professors (and colleagues) Ana Luísa Fernandes, Anabela Alves, Dinis Carvalho, Rui Sousa, and José Carlos Sá for their insightful presentations and engaging participation in this event.
